BOBBLY GREENS

As you are all aware we are currently having issues with our greens performance, this is due to a number of issues-:
1. Hollow coring,
2. Fusarium scars
3. Footprints suffered over winter/wetter months.
We had planned to hollow core early March but the amount of rain we had put a stop to that. When we finally hollow cored conditions had become rather dry, and lack of rain with cold temperatures followed by cold winds have encouraged our hollow core holes to widen giving us a bumpy playing surface.

Some of the issues with the thatch problem is that greens tend to be wetter when it’s wet and dry out quicker during dry conditions.

So how are we going to remedy this?

• More sand has been ordered to topdress greens to help with filling in the wider holes and fusarium scars.
• We’re receiving a green’s iron on demo. This will also help true the playing surface as it acts as a roller of sorts.
• A granular feed will be applied on the next possible opportunity to force some growth and germination of our greens.

As the temperatures begin to rise this will also encourage new germination of grasses and thickening of the grass sword, hopefully within the next few weeks we will start to see improvements.

Once again the greens team thank you for your patience as we know this is frustrating.
